Job Description
- Position: RN Case Manager in Emergency Department (ED)
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Case Manager role)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse

- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) – Copies of CEUs taken within last 24 months required (minimum 1 contact hour, excluding BLS)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required
- Competency Exams – Unit-specific competency exams required, including Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Pass/Fail Testing – Medication/Calculation exam and Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam) with 80% passing score required for certain units including ED
Background & Health Requirements
- Criminal Background Check – Within 1 year of start, including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, federal, and 7-year search
- Drug Screening – Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year; instant tests not accepted
- Physical Exam – Within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
- Fit Mask Testing – N95 mask fit test within 1 year; PAPR documentation accepted if N95 fit test failed
- Immunizations & Titers:
- TB Test (PPD, TSpot, or QGold) negative within 1 year or negative chest x-ray if positive TB history
- Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
- Hepatitis C titer preferred; declination accepted with reason
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Varicella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – Required or Pertussis titer showing immunity
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine – Required by December 5th annually or signed declination; masking policies apply based on vaccination status
- COVID-19 Vaccine – Current 2024-2025 vaccine documentation preferred; declination accepted with masking requirements during flu season
Documentation & Compliance
- Two professional references within 1 year from leadership roles required
- Verification of employment for past 3 years required
- Education verification and proof of RN licensure required
- Signed HIPAA acknowledgment required
- Facility-specific orientation and competency modules to be completed onsite or prior as instructed
- Signed acknowledgment of unit-specific job description prior to start
- Various facility-specific packets and policies must be reviewed and acknowledged (e.g., Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy, Epidural Pain Policy, Standard of Care: Skin Care)
Uniform & Onsite Requirements
- Scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue (any brand, must be purchased beforehand)
- Badge and identification requirements as per facility policy
- Orientation and training modules mostly completed onsite
