Job Opportunity: Emergency Center RN

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) for 17-week contracts. The role involves working 12-hour shifts in a busy emergency department with approximately 140 patient visits per day.


Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years ER experience, preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Facility
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required
  • EMR Experience: Must have prior experience with Meditech 6.15
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must have 2 years of ER experience in an Acute Care setting
    • Prior travel experience highly preferred
    • Must pass an online Cardiac Rhythms test (minimum 80%) and an ESI Triage Exam during orientation
    • Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility (driver’s license address verification required)
    • COVID-19 immunization not required, but unvaccinated staff must agree to weekly testing

Work Environment & Details

  • Unit: Emergency Room with fast track area for less acute patients
  • Beds:
    • 25 monitored beds
    • 6 fast treatment beds
    • 6 fast treatment chairs
    • 2 trauma bays
    • Dedicated stroke room
    • 4-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric personnel
  • Staffing Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Shift Requirements:
    • 12-hour shifts
    • Weekend work every 3rd to 4th weekend
    • Holidays every other holiday
  • Team Support:
    • Charge nurse present
    • Nurse aides/paramedics (2-3 per shift)
    • Security/patient sitters available
    • Central monitoring techs
    • Respiratory therapy 24/7 dedicated to ER
    • Pharmacy coverage 11 hours in department, 24/7 on campus
  • Physician Coverage:
    • 1 midlevel provider 24/7
    • Additional midlevel 9am-9pm
    • 2-4 MDs depending on time of day
  • Nursing Responsibilities:
    • Nurses perform lab draws and start IVs
  • Orientation: 1-2 shifts floor-specific orientation depending on comfort level

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

  • Patients range from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Trauma cases accepted and managed (some neuro trauma transferred out)
  • Orthopedic cases partially managed onsite
  • Stroke (CVA) center
  • No burn patients treated onsite

Additional Notes

  • Must have prior Meditech 6.15 experience
  • Preference for candidates with larger hospital ER experience
  • Candidates will be asked about ESI triage training and experience with Alaris pumps

This position is ideal for ER nurses with strong acute care backgrounds, Meditech EMR experience, and a preference for travel or contract work in a Level 1 trauma setting.
