Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Progressive Care Unit
Location: Albany, Georgia
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (Cardiac Step Down)
Job Details
- Unit: Cardiology Stepdown (4A/4B)
- 4A: Cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery
- 4B: Smaller procedures, drips, CHF patients
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 (nurse to patient)
- Beds: 44 total (including 8 semi-private rooms)
- Nurse Aides: 1 to 10 ratio
- Shifts: 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Must be flexible to work holidays and days around holidays
- Floating: To ICU (only stepdown patients unless ICU experience is noted)
- Orientation: 3 shifts floor-specific orientation
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS preferred
- Georgia nursing license required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in Stepdown in an acute care setting (no exceptions)
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Patient care includes post-op day 1 CABG, cardiovascular surgeries (femoral-popliteal bypass, arteriograms, carotid endarterectomies, thoracotomy, VATS, EVARs, AAA repairs), stents, pacemakers, ablations, AICD, CHF, afib with RVR, adenosine cardioversions, chest tubes
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Manage drips including Cardizem (titrated), amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine (renal dose), lasix, bumex, heparin, primacor, vaprosol
- Ventilator support limited to BiPAP, CPAP (only during sleep), vapotherm; no full ventilators or high flow oxygen
- Prefer nurses able to pull pacer wires; orientation provided if unable
- Fast patient turnover: average census 32-38 patients, with 12-16 admissions/discharges on busy days

Additional Requirements & Notes
- Must comply with dress code: natural hair color, no fake nails or shellac, no facial piercings, no visible tattoos
- Strict 75-mile radius rule: traveler’s driver’s license address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
