Job Opportunity: RN - Medical-Surgical (Travel)

Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
• Reassess patients’ health needs at least every shift and as warranted
• Establish and update individualized plans of care based on comprehensive data
• Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights
• Assess and document medication and treatment effectiveness and any adverse effects
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing best practices, hospital policies, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy
• Document patient care, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress accurately and legibly
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
• Interpret and analyze diagnostic data and intervene appropriately
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and healthcare team using SBAR communication for all handoffs
• Respect patient rights including confidentiality, safety, and participation in care planning
• Evaluate and document patient care and teaching effectiveness
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Manage patients in restraints according to policy and understand application criteria
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital policies including use of two patient identifiers
• Understand and participate in Disaster Plan and Rapid Response Team activation
• Complete orientation to Life Safety Standards (Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Red, Haz Mat Spills, Oxygen shut off valve)
• Follow hospital infection control policies and blood transfusion protocols
• Understand and appropriately use the Chain of Command
• Practice proper hand hygiene before and after patient contact
• Follow guidelines for Core Measures and vaccine control

Requirements

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing
• Years of Experience: Recent Medical-Surgical experience in an acute care facility (implies current and relevant experience required)
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • California RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred

Contract Length

• 4 weeks (interpreted as 4 weeks based on contract length value)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
• Emphasis on acute care Medical-Surgical experience and current licensure in California
