    Job Opportunity: RN - Operating Room (OR) Nurse

    Location: San Diego, California
    Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical - Nursing - Travel)
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room (OR) to provide safe, therapeutic, and individualized care to patients and families. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, with a focus on quality outcomes and patient advocacy. The nurse will collaborate with healthcare team members and coordinate OR staffing and case management.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide patient and family-centered care aimed at achieving individualized goals.
    • Perform nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
    • Manage complex, high-risk clinical situations and seek additional resources as needed.
    • Serve as patient and family advocate ensuring excellent care and participation in decision-making.
    • Develop and implement individualized educational plans for patients and families.
    • Communicate and coordinate with healthcare team members and ancillary staff to optimize patient progress and workflow.
    • Delegate and assign care within the scope of practice of healthcare team members.
    • Coordinate OR staffing, including handling sick call-outs and escalating issues to administration.
    • Support anesthesia and assist with case setup and coordination.
    • Utilize EPIC EMR system for case booking and documentation.

    Required Qualifications

    • Licensure: California Registered Nurse (CA RN) license required.
    • Certifications: CPR and BLS required.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum 3 years of OR RN circulating experience.
      • Experience as OR Charge nurse or running the board.
      • Level I or Level II Trauma experience preferred (Level II Trauma center staffed 24/7).
    • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required.

    Additional Information

    • Exposure to all types of surgical cases.
    • Role primarily involves assigning and coordinating cases rather than direct case assignments.
    • Must complete OR questionnaire as part of profile.

    This position is ideal for an experienced OR nurse with strong leadership skills, trauma experience, and prior travel nursing background looking for a travel assignment in a Level II Trauma center.
