Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery RN (Registered Nurse)
Location: Meridian, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)
Shift: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
Unit Overview
- Unit: Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- L&D Beds: 10
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 2 (L&D RNs circulate)
- Triage Beds: 4
- Postpartum Beds: 10
- Average Births per Month: ~120
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: AWHONN standards (primarily 1:1 in L&D, 1:6 couple care in Postpartum)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Stable (taken at least once)
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Experience Requirements
- Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience required
- Postpartum (PP) experience required
- Circulating experience required
- Triage experience strongly preferred
- RNs must be able to titrate drips (primarily Pitocin per protocol, magnesium, rarely insulin)
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Laboring patients 32 weeks gestation and greater
- Elective and medical induction of labor
- Stable antepartum patients
- Postpartum patients
- Well newborns
Staffing & Support
- Charge RN, Resource RN, and House Supervisor on each shift (Charge and Resource RNs do not have patient assignments)
- CNA support 4-5 days/nights per week
- Unit clerk available 24/7
- OB hospitalist available 24/7
- Midwives always on call
- Neonatal NP 24/7 and Neonatologist on call within 15 minutes
- CRNA anesthesia coverage 24/7
Additional Information
- No Tele/Monitor Techs on unit
- EFM System: GE Connect
- Staff cannot work more than five shifts in a row per hospital policy
- Weekend and holiday work based on unit needs
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating required to like units within the valley (Nampa and Boise L&D units), with prior notice; true floating to separate locations is rare
- Blue scrubs provided on unit
- Orientation: Customized, typically 4-6 shifts (nights 3x12)
