Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Richmond, Virginia

Unit Information

• Unit: Maternal Infant Unit
• Number of Beds: 24
• Number of Staff: 71
• Staff Types:

  • Day Shift: labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary, leadership, educator
  • Night Shift: labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary
• Patient Ratios:

  • Labor: 1:1 (most of the time)
  • Post-partum: 5-6:1
  • Nursery: 5-6:1
• Equipment: GE fetal monitors
• EMR System: Meditech, CPN

Job Responsibilities

• Vaginal deliveries
• C-sections
• Care of antepartum patients
• Newborn and post-partum care

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years labor experience in an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit with high birth volumes

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; infant security badges are pink
• Schedule: Every third weekend required to work with 12 hours of call per 4-week schedule
