Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room with the following requirements and details:

• License: PA or compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Shift: Combination of (2) 8-hour shifts and (2) 12-hour shifts; night shifts from 7 PM - 7 AM and 11 PM - 7 AM
• Floating: May float to GI unit or Center One Surgery Center
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 1 Winter Holiday and 1 Summer Holiday (shift length may vary)
• Weekend Requirement: Must work 2 weekend night shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 3 years
• Specialty Experience: Level I Trauma, Liver, and Kidney experience required
• Education: BSN required
• Charting System: Cerner
• Travel Experience: No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Certifications & Competencies Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Competency Exam (as applicable to specialty)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
• State License Primary Source Verification
• NURSYS Verification (as applicable)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
• Education verification or official transcript (diploma not accepted)
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results within 12 months of start
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start
• Work history verification (as applicable)
• 2 professional references within 2 years of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 2 months of start
• Fit test within 12 months of start (3M 1870+ mask model required)
• Current Tdap vaccine or titer
• Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
• 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct-Apr)
• COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask-wearing at work

Additional Information

• Modules assigned by education department must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
• Photo required for badge issuance
• Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia Exam must be passed during orientation; failure results in contract cancellation

This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with prior travel assignments and specialized trauma and surgical experience.
