Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics / Triage (Days)
Location: Peterborough, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (will accept 13 weeks, prefer 26 weeks)
Job Description
- Position is in a rural location; candidates must be comfortable driving in winter weather using their own vehicle.
- No local travelers accepted (permanent address must be 50+ miles from facility).
- Role involves prescribing and coordinating professional nursing care for pediatric patients independently within nursing practice guidelines and hospital policies.
- Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Teach and direct clinical support staff (LPNs and Medical Assistants) in delegated tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records; report changes or concerns promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following hospital policies.
- Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment options, and preventive care.
- Provide emotional support and advocate for patients’ rights.
- Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with medical advancements.
Required Experience & Skills
- Pediatric experience is required.
- At least 2 years of clinic experience required.
- Experience in triage/telephone nursing (approximately 80% of time spent on phone with patients).
- Clinic or medical office experience required.
- Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with patients regarding medication, medical history, and diagnosis.
- Critical Access Hospital experience is highly preferred.
Certifications & Documentation Requirements
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification (must be current).
- License verification (all licenses/certifications must be current at time of submission).
- Work history and skills checklist for clinic nursing within the past year required.
- One supervisory signed reference from the past year of employment required.
- Permanent address must be included in submission file.
Additional Information
- Facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital offering medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetrics, pediatrics, and mental health services.
- Outpatient services include pulmonary, cardiac, physical rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, laboratory, and radiology.
- Electronic Medical Record system used: McKesson.
- Normal business hours: 8-hour shifts.
- Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply.
