Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health (Inpatient, Nights)

Location: Glens Falls, New York
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse for an inpatient Behavioral Health unit working night shifts. The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with an average daily census of 20 and an RN-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:9. Average patient stay is 5-7 days.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of Behavioral Health Unit experience (highest required years of experience)
  • Experience with Pediatric, Adolescent, and Adult patients
  • Recent travel experience required (explicitly stated)
  • Experience with de-escalation of agitated patients
  • EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience required

Certifications & Training

  • Current New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate (required for temporary staffing in NY)
  • BLS certification
  • CPI or NAPPI/Welle de-escalation training required (must be completed prior to onboarding)
  • Negative 14 panel drug screen (including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolite, opiates, phencyclidine, methadone, methaqualone, propoxyphene, buprenorphine, and 6-acetylmorphine) within 24 hours of offer acceptance

Other Requirements

  • Must have own reliable vehicle
  • Reliable attendance with no call-outs or attendance concerns
  • Dress code: Personal scrubs of any color (no designs, cartoons, or hoodies)
  • Non-billable orientation: 8 hours
  • No call required for this position

  • RN to patient ratio: 1:9 (depending on census)
  • Average daily census: 20 patients
  • Average length of stay: 5-7 days

Additional Information

  • Requested time off (RTO) must be noted and verified at profile upload; no more than 5 days of RTO allowed, and requests after upload will not be approved
  • Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts during the 13-week contract with 2 hours’ notice
  • Profile must include:
    • Work history
    • Skills checklist (updated within 1 year)
    • One supervisory signed reference from the past 2 years
    • Current licenses and certifications uploaded (Nursys, BLS, CPI)
    • Permanent address matching driver license/state ID (address will be validated)
  • Candidates from certain New York counties are not eligible for this assignment (Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, Washington)

COVID-19 & Safety

  • COVID vaccinations are not required but strongly encouraged
  • De-escalation training is mandatory for onboarding as of 1/1/2024
