Job Opportunity: RN - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit Name: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
Number of Beds: 40
Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
Unit Staffing:
- Unit secretaries and tech availability
- HUC available 7:30 AM - 4 PM
- 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) scheduled daily, assigned to specific pods
- PCTs can draw labs, perform catheterizations, and transport patients
Equipment: Standard PACU equipment
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling: 6-week schedules issued at a time; 3 call shifts required within each 6-week period
Floating Policy: Float within peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II)
Dress Code: Surgical green or navy scrubs

Required Certifications and Licenses

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Registered Nurse License

Experience and Skills Requirements

Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 2 years as an RN
Requested Skill Set:
- Trauma experience
- Pediatric experience
- NIH Stroke Scale experience
Advanced Skills Needed: Ventilator monitoring

Additional Information

The hospital is a Level II trauma center with a comprehensive stroke center and Level III neonatal intensive care unit.
The unit supports a busy robotic surgery program and provides specialized cardiac care.
The hospital has received Magnet® Designation for nursing excellence and consistently high safety and quality ratings.
