Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, quality outcomes, and maintaining a financially stable unit. You will apply evidence-based practice and participate in education and practice governance frameworks. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff and is accountable for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans. The position also involves mentoring and precepting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, and implement individualized plans of care; collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor/preceptor.
- Promote teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives and implement practice changes.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in the Practice Governance model.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience.
