Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Medical Surgical
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Schedule: Every other weekend, no call, floating as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (highest required years of experience)
• Valid California RN License
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification
• Background Check: 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• Must meet all facility and system-specific background screening requirements (FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, etc.)

Required Health Documents & Immunizations

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must indicate "cleared for work")
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
• Immunity or vaccination proof for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Color Blind Exam (in-person, if applicable)
• Respiratory Safety Clearance (renewed annually)

Additional Requirements

• Full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment longer than 30 days
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
• Competency exams as applicable (Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.)
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • Job Description
  • Standards of Business Conduct
  • General Regulatory Orientation
  • Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions)
  • Overpayment Refund Policy
  • TB Questionnaire (within 90 days, renewed annually)
• References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement only)

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating as needed may require flexibility in unit assignments.
• Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair (PAPR) may be considered with proper documentation and approval.

This position offers a structured night shift schedule with no call and every other weekend off, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience and required certifications, ready to work in a California healthcare setting.
