Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Tracy, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery. Must be comfortable caring for both baby and delivered mother.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- California RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Instructor or Advanced Provider Course, AHA/AAP only
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - Typically required for Labor & Delivery; AWHONN certification valid for 2 years
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum RN experience required (default to standard RN experience)
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Seasonal Flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
Competency & Skills
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some units
Additional Requirements
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
- Work history verification for up to 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical positions (within 3 years)
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be completed onsite during orientation week
Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable working in Labor and Delivery with newborns and mothers post-delivery
- All certifications and verifications must be current and compliant with facility and state requirements
- Religious and medical exemptions for immunizations and fit testing may be considered with proper documentation and approval
