Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Jackson, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position requires working every other weekend.
- Floating duties may include being a sitter or helping hands if census is low and other departments need assistance.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records is preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Current California RN license.
- At least 3 years of Registered Nurse experience (prior travel experience is not required).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Background checks and verifications as per facility requirements (see below).
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- CCRN (Critical Care RN) - verify by position
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid for 4 years
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - typically required for Labor & Delivery
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - verify by position
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - as applicable
- Competency Exams including Telemetry and unit-specific tests as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - may be required for some units
Licenses & Verifications
- State RN license verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Official transcripts/diplomas or education verification as required.
Background Checks & Screening
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List searches as applicable.
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start.
- Background checks updated annually as required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work).
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella - positive titers or vaccinations required
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella - positive titer or vaccinations required
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
- Color Blind Exam if applicable (in-person exam required).
- Respiratory Safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
Work History & Documentation
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps over 30 days.
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over one year require approval.
- 2 professional references required for clinical positions (within 3 years).
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including:

- Standards of Business Conduct
- Code of Conduct
- Vendor Training
- Overpayment Refund Policy
- TB Questionnaire (within 90 days, renewed annually)
- Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
- Religious Accommodation Forms if applicable
- Epic Questionnaire (for RNs starting 11/3/2025 and onward)
Schedule & Additional Notes
- Every other weekend work required.
- Floating to other departments as needed.
- EPIC experience preferred but not mandatory.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Labor and Delivery who hold the required certifications and licensure, and who are comfortable with travel/contract assignments in California.
