Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to work in a large acute care hospital setting. This is a travel contract position requiring the ability to circulate in the L&D unit.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience (hard stop, no exceptions)
- Experience in large hospital settings highly preferred
- No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC-EFM acceptable)
Skills
- Must be able to circulate in the Labor and Delivery unit
Shift Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
- Hours: 07:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Travel pairs not accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and international background search if applicable
- Background must be updated annually
- Open/active felony cases or more than one DUI charge will result in cancellation
Licenses and Verifications
- Valid RN license for California (pending licenses not accepted)
- NURSYS verification required
- State-specific searches as applicable
Health and Immunizations
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
Drug Testing
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
References and Employment History
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training and Competency Requirements
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually
WorkRamp Modules (Mandatory)
- Core regulatory and specialty-specific modules assigned via WorkRamp LMS platform
- Modules must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
- Epic training modules required for Epic access
Additional Notes
- Local radius for this position is 50 miles
- Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience looking to work in a reputable acute care hospital with a supportive environment and comprehensive compliance requirements.
