Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho/Medical Surgical)
Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Orthopedic/Medical Surgical
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Unit Size: 10 rooms/beds
- Scope of Care:
- Provide specialized care for patients with musculoskeletal issues
- Care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries
- Manage chronic orthopedic conditions
- Educate patients and families on care and prevention
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Travel Radius: 100 mile radius rule in effect
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Additional certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid State Nursing License with primary source verification
- NURSYS Verification (for RN)
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable if final verification pending)
- Drug screening (10-panel, negative within 90 days)
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Fit mask test within 1 year (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)

- Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
- Complete employment application/resume
- Work history verification (7 years)
- Photo for badge
- Various competency exams (medication/pharmacology, color blind testing, core competencies) as applicable
Notes
- Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
This position offers an opportunity to work in a focused orthopedic nursing role with a reputable healthcare system, providing care to a manageable patient load during night shifts. The role requires proficiency with Epic charting and current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
