Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must have experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho due to trauma status.
- May need to cover one night shift during the contract as needed.
- Weekend shifts required.
- On-call required: Call shifts distributed equally every 6 weeks, potentially 6-8 shifts including nights, evenings, and weekends (8-hour shifts).
- Floating between like units required.
- Block scheduling possible at manager discretion.
- Locals accepted; pending licenses not accepted.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Free parking available.
- Variable start times: 7:00 AM or 9:00 AM.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke, CPI, IV Certification, MAB) may be required based on unit and clinical track.
- Must verify certifications per clinical track guidelines.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Acute Care Hospital setting with 277 staffed beds.
- May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
- One night shift coverage may be required during contract.
- Call shifts every 6 weeks, including nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Weekend work required.
Licensure & Background Checks
- Valid California RN license required; pending licenses not accepted.
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Additional state-specific background checks and verifications as applicable.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test required (updated annually).
- Immunizations required: TDAP, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (seasonal), COVID vaccine or declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
Training & Competency
- Must complete Providence WorkRamp Core and Specialty Modules as assigned prior to start.
- Epic training modules required and must be completed after Providence access is granted.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required as applicable.
- Skills checklists required annually for applicable units.
References & Employment History
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application required with at least last 5 years of employment history.
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required.
- Block scheduling and floating subject to manager discretion.
- Locals accepted; no pending licenses.
- First-time travelers accepted.
