Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department (Travel)
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level 2 Trauma Center with 4 critical care bays
- 190-bed hospital providing 24/7 Emergency Care (Trauma Level III)
- Services include Cardiovascular, Cancer, Orthopedic, Women’s & Children’s Health, and Primary Care
- Joint Commission Accredited Teaching Hospital
- Emergency Department (ED) with patient ratios approximately 1:4
- Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, Care Aware handheld devices
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): Omnicell, Cerner FirstNet, SBAR
- Teleneurology support for stroke in cooperation with a major hospital
- No PICU on site; pediatric ICU patients are transferred out
Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department RN
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: No guaranteed weekends off, but fair scheduling is prioritized
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Travelers required to float to ED holding area
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS/BLS, PALS
- Required Experience/Skills:
- Experience with Cerner EHR system
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Charge nurse experience
- NIH Stroke Scale knowledge
- Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Care of ventilated patients
- Triage skills
- Must be comfortable working in a non-trauma emergency department setting with a wide range of patient diagnoses from pediatrics to geriatrics
