Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Weston, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse in Operating Room
  • Shift: 0645-1715 with liver call; may assist with other cases if no liver/transplant cases available
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of direct liver/transplant OR RN experience (highest required)
  • Strong experience required in liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
  • Must have experience with organ implantation (not just harvesting)
  • Proficiency in Misonix/CUSA required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – must have at time of application
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – must have at time of application
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) – must be obtained prior to start

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • On-call: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals accepted at same rate

  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required and must be current
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10 panel drug screen plus nicotine within 1 year of start
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
    • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption required
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually
  • Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) administered during orientation for RNs
  • Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (cannot be completed on phone; must use Google Chrome)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be aware of time-sensitive onboarding modules and prioritize completion
  • Facility will issue radiation badges if applicable
  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
  • Must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
