Job Opportunity: RN - Labor & Delivery (Travel)

Location: Dickson, Tennessee

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Women’s Services (LDRP Unit)
• Beds: 9 LDRP, 1 OBED, 4 NICU, 1 OR suite
• Patient Ratios:

  • Active labors, inductions, C-sections: 1:1
  • Couplet care: 1:3
  • Newborns: 1:1 until stable
  • NICU intermediate care: 1:3 (minimum 2 NICU nurses on unit)
• Staffing: No techs or unit secretaries available
• Equipment: Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps
• Documentation: Meditech and CPN systems
• Scheduling: Full-time, 3 shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays; PRN shifts available
• Floating Policy: Staff may be floated anywhere within the facility as needed; some cross-training between LDRP & NICU
• Patient Experience: Daily rounding on all patients, safety rounding

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified / not required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Fetal Monitoring training
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification preferred

Skills & Experience

• Must have charge nurse experience
• Labor and delivery experience including:

  • Labor and recovery of mother
  • Receiving and transitioning newborns including assessment
• Experience with OB emergencies such as shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage preferred
• Advanced skills:

  • Fetal monitoring education
  • Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil)
• Procedures performed on unit:

  • C-sections
  • Circumcisions
  • Intra-uterine monitoring
  • Vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries

Work Environment & Team

• Unit staffed by highly experienced RNs, including six with approximately 30 years of experience each
• Several nurses with 7-10 years of experience, providing strong support and preceptorship
• Team-oriented unit with a collaborative and helpful culture
• Great opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care

Additional Information

• Dress code: Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
• Certifications and policies are maintained and accessible via Policy Stat
• The unit holds certifications including Joint Commission, Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU
