Job Opportunity: RN - Labor & Delivery (Travel)
Location: Dickson, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: Women’s Services (LDRP Unit)
- Beds: 9 LDRP, 1 OBED, 4 NICU, 1 OR suite
- Patient Ratios:
- Active labors, inductions, C-sections: 1:1
- Couplet care: 1:3
- Newborns: 1:1 until stable
- NICU intermediate care: 1:3 (minimum 2 NICU nurses on unit)
- Staffing: No techs or unit secretaries available
- Equipment: Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps
- Documentation: Meditech and CPN systems
- Scheduling: Full-time, 3 shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays; PRN shifts available
- Floating Policy: Staff may be floated anywhere within the facility as needed; some cross-training between LDRP & NICU
- Patient Experience: Daily rounding on all patients, safety rounding
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Fetal Monitoring training
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Experience in charge nurse roles
Skills & Experience
- Must have charge nurse experience
- Labor and delivery experience including:
- Labor and recovery of mother
- Receiving and transitioning newborns including assessment
- Experience with OB emergencies such as shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage preferred
- Advanced skills:
- Fetal monitoring education
- Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil)
- Procedures performed on unit:
- C-sections
- Circumcisions
- Intra-uterine monitoring
- Vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
Work Environment & Team
- Unit staffed by highly experienced RNs, including six with approximately 30 years of experience each
- Several nurses with 7-10 years of experience, providing strong support and preceptorship
- Team-oriented unit with a collaborative and helpful culture
- Great opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
Additional Information
- Dress code: Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy
- Certifications and policies are maintained and accessible via Policy Stat
- The unit holds certifications including Joint Commission, Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU
