Job Opportunity: RN - Telemetry (Travel)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Specialty
- Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Will float on a rotational basis
Unit Information
- Unit: Medical 6B
- Number of Beds: 32
- Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Day 1:5-1:6, Night 1:6-1:7) – ratios not guaranteed
- Patient Population: Medical, medical telemetry, respiratory patients
- Equipment: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry nursing (inpatient only)
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be obtained prior to start if not currently held
- Experience and competence in drug titration
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Orientation for night shift occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Must be able to stand and walk most of the shift, with physical demands including bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
- Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Utilizes nursing process for patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintains patient confidentiality and professional accountability
- Adheres to Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
