Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Travel)
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit Name: D3-A (ICU/PCU Overflow)
- Number of Beds: 10
- Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 2:1
- PCU: 4-5:1
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RNs
- Unit Staffing Notes: No unit secretaries or patient care technicians (PCTs). Charge nurse is out of staffing.
- Floating Policy: Yes, travelers will be required to float.
- On Call Requirements: No
- Scheduling: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required, holiday support required.
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs
Required Skills and Experience
- Specialty: Medical ICU experience in a large facility
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty (RN critical care)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (assumed not required)
- Advanced Skills Needed:
- Ventilator management
- Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
- Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Central line management
- Procedures: Assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations.
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Additional Information
- Must be a critical thinker, flexible, and work well with others.
- Comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
- Bedside shift report is mandatory.
- Relief charge nurse expected to perform nurse leader rounding.
- Equipment used includes lift equipment, targeted temperature management (TTM), ventilators, IV pumps, etc.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a specialized ICU/PCU overflow unit with a supportive team and advanced technology.
