Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

Department: Emergency Department (ER)
Unit Size: 101 beds
Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical patients; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and internal processing; unit clerks on days and nights
Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center with a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits)
At least 1 year experience specifically in an Emergency Room setting
Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Attendance policy and unit-specific guidelines provided on day 1

Licensure

Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
