Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Department: Emergency Department (Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center)
• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
• Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage, unit clerks (days and nights)
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
• Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
• Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates

Required Certifications (Must have before start date)

• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• TNCC
• CPI
• NIHSS
• ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
• At least 1 year experience in an Emergency Room setting
• Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually) preferred
• Experience in a Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center preferred
• Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
• Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

Licensure
