Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Department: Emergency Department (Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center)
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage, unit clerks (days and nights)
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
- Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates
Required Certifications (Must have before start date)
- ACLS
- BLS
- PALS
- TNCC
- CPI
- NIHSS
- ENPC (within 90 days of hire)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
- At least 1 year experience in an Emergency Room setting
- Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually) preferred
- Experience in a Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center preferred
- Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
- Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse License in North Carolina
