Job Opportunity: OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Boise, Idaho
Specialty: Surgical Services - OR RN


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, typically 9 AM to 9 PM
  • Rare overnight shifts; may be required if night call team is on vacation or sick
  • Call requirements:
    • Weeknight call: Typically 4 hours after scheduled shift, occasionally up to 12 hours
    • Weekend call: 12-hour in-house day shift, approximately once per month
    • Holiday call: 12-hour in-house day shift, approximately once per month
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
  • 4x10 hour day shifts with call expectation also mentioned

Unit/Department Details

  • Department: Operating Room (OR)
  • Unit: Surgical Services, 17 OR suites
  • Average cases per day: 65
  • Common cases include:
    • Pediatric (all specialties and trauma)
    • Adult general surgery
    • DaVinci robotic surgeries
    • Neuro-spine and cranial surgeries
    • Pediatric scoliosis
    • Orthopedics (total joints, trauma, sports medicine)
    • Urology (complex cases including kidney and prostate)
    • Oncology cases
    • ENT, GYN (including c-sections for accreta)
    • Bariatrics (robotic or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y, sleeves, gastric bypass)

Orientation

  • Approximately 1 week of general and unit-specific orientation

Floating

  • Rarely required
  • Possible float to nearby surgery centers or other local hospitals
  • May float to Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) if experienced with robotic thoracic cases

Dress Code

  • Hospital provides grey scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
  • Preferably 1-2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required)
  • BLS Certification required

Additional Information

  • Scrubbing is not required for RNs in this role
  • Charge nurse available 24/7 on each shift
  • OR techs present on unit
  • EMR system: EPIC
  • Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
