    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PACU) - Travel/Contract

    Location: San Mateo, California

    Job Description

    • Accountable for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
    • Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
    • Work in the Day Surgery Unit with adult and pediatric patients.
    • Must be able to work in pre-op, PACU, and post-op areas.

    Requirements

    • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an inpatient PACU RN and/or experience in an outpatient surgical setting.
    • Licensure: California RN Licensure required.
    • Certifications:
      • BLS (AHA)
      • ACLS
      • PALS
    • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, variable start times between 0600-0930. No on-call or weekend shifts. Closing shift (0930-1800) may require staying late if patient discharge criteria are not met.

    Background Checks & Compliance

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
    • Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
    • Education verification required, preferably Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
    • TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
    • Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (during flu season), and others as per facility policy. Medical and religious exemptions considered with proper documentation.
    • Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
    • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start, renewed annually.

    Certifications & Competencies

    • ACLS, BLS, PALS mandatory.
    • Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (e.g., CCRN, TNCC, NRP).
    • Medication and competency exams as applicable.

    Documentation & Orientation

    • Must provide a clear, passport-style photo for badge.
    • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
    • Complete TB questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
    • Complete respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.

    Work History & References

    • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps.
    • Employment verification for up to 7 years required.
    • 2 professional references required for clinical positions within 3 years of hire.
