Job Opportunity: IMC - RN - Interventional Radiology
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - DPC
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
- Responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care for assigned patients.
- Deliver care based on established nursing standards and hospital policies.
- Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, counseling, and supportive/restorative care.
- Supervise care provided by LPNs, RNs on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff.
Responsibilities
- Assess immediate and ongoing care needs of patients and significant others.
- Develop comprehensive, current care plans addressing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, teaching, and discharge needs.
- Provide and oversee direct patient care and ensure all aspects of care are delivered appropriately.
- Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate patient responses to illness and treatments.
- Coordinate overall care plans with multidisciplinary teams, prioritizing care and ensuring timely interventions.
- Integrate age-specific care needs (e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics) into care plans.
- Accept accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes based on clinical judgment.
- Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care and nursing standards.
- Communicate effectively, manage stressful situations, and facilitate interdisciplinary relationships.
- Participate in orientation of nursing staff and assume charge responsibilities as delegated.
- Ensure appropriate patient coverage and assist on other units as needed.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses.
- Engage in meetings, committees, conferences, educational programs, research, and pilot projects.
- Commit to continuing professional growth and education, including staff development and pursuing advanced degrees or certifications.
- Participate in professional and community organizations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (highest required specialty experience).
- Knowledge and competency in both interventional and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to fully utilize electronic medical record systems, equipment, and relevant healthcare/billing systems.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians for procedures such as TEE and loop recorder implants.
Education Requirements
- BSN prepared (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Preferred Certifications
- Board Certification (CRN)
