Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks as specified)
Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, 18:30-07:00)
Start Date: March 2, 2026


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Strong Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience is a hard requirement.
  • Must be competent in caring for adult patients in various settings including ER and other units.
  • First-time travelers are accepted if they have a strong pediatric and NICU-focused skillset.
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Work Details

  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend required.
  • Holidays: Required as scheduled.
  • Floating: Required to float to all care settings where respiratory support is needed within scope of practice.
  • On-call: No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required.
  • Patient Age Range: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics.
  • Patient Diagnoses: Variety of complex diagnoses requiring critical care respiratory therapy.
  • Average Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:12.
  • Average Visits per Day: Approximately 40.

Unit and Equipment Details

  • Units: Level 4 NICU, Pediatrics, Emergency Room (ER), Level 1 Trauma, Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
  • Equipment: Maquet Servo i ventilators, Draeger V500, Jet Ventilation, Oscillation, Nitric Oxide therapy.

Uniform

  • Scrub color: Navy blue.
  • Trauma unit: Pink scrubs.
  • Pediatric department: Navy blue scrub pants with child-friendly tops (white short sleeves or navy long sleeves).
  • Business casual allowed in GOR department or case management (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation.
  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide checks, sex offender registry, and education verification.
  • State-specific exclusions list check (Maryland).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Tuberculosis screening: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD testing.
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required for the 2025-26 season.
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking.
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year.
  • Employment application/resume within 30 days of start.
  • Verification of previous 5 years of work history.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, critical care environment with a diverse patient population.
  • Must be flexible to float across multiple units as needed.
  • Documentation and compliance with all facility-specific policies and credentialing requirements are mandatory prior to start.

This position is ideal for RRTs with strong pediatric and neonatal critical care skills who are comfortable also managing adult patients in acute care settings. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel therapists with the appropriate clinical background.
