Job Opportunity: Case Manager Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks as specified)
Shift: Days, Monday through Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (8:00 or 8:30 AM to 4:00 or 4:30 PM)
Start Date: 02/23/2026


Job Description

  • Provide inpatient case management including coordinating medical home care, placement, and social services to ensure safe patient discharges.
  • Average daily census: 15 cases.
  • Work attire: Business casual.
  • EPIC charting experience preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have inpatient hospital/acute care experience.
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Maryland RN license required.
  • BLS preferred.
  • ACLS may be required depending on unit (AHA certification).
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for all RNs except OR, PACU, and Family Birth Pavilion; must be updated annually.
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI, etc.) as applicable based on unit or specialty.

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80%+).
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for most units except some exclusions).
  • Age-specific competency exam (required for all).
  • Unit-specific competency exams as applicable.

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests NOT accepted).
  • Fit mask test within 1 year.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units).
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof).
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted).
    • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually.
  • COVID vaccine no longer required but documentation collected for tracking.

Background Checks & Documentation

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification for highest level of education.
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years.
  • Two professional references required (one must be a supervisor or charge RN).
  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • I9 or attestation required.
  • E-Verify or attestation required.

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Confidentiality agreement and facility-specific job description must be signed prior to start.
  • Security ID application and badge photo required.
  • Review and sign facility policies including appearance standards, fingernail hygiene, standards of business conduct, and dress code.
  • Completion of orientation and unit-specific training modules.
  • Portfolio Epic training test out form may be applicable based on prior Epic experience.

Summary

This is a travel contract RN Case Manager position requiring at least 3 years of RN experience, preferably with inpatient hospital or acute care background. Prior travel experience is not required. The role involves day shifts coordinating patient discharges and care plans. Candidates must hold a Maryland RN license and meet various health, background, and competency requirements.
