Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department (Travel)

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

Level 2 Trauma Center with 4 critical care bays
Provides 24/7 Emergency Care (Trauma Level III)
Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
Patient ratio approximately 1:4
Unit uses Cerner EHR system and equipment including ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, and handheld Care Aware devices
Teleneurology support for stroke in cooperation with a major hospital
No PICU on site; pediatric ICU patients are transferred out

Position Details

Specialty: Emergency Department (ED)
Shift: 10:45 AM – 11:15 PM
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Weekend hours: No guaranteed weekends off, but fair scheduling is prioritized
Call requirements: None
Float requirements: Travelers required to float to ED holding

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) license for Maine
Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing
Required certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BCLS/BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support/Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Experience with Cerner EHR, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), charge nurse experience, and NIH stroke scale preferred
Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ventilated patients, and triage in a non-trauma emergency department setting

Additional Information

The area served is economically depressed with a wide range of patient diagnoses and treatments
