Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to work in a large acute care hospital setting. This is a travel contract position with a start date ASAP. The shift is 3x12 hour day shifts (07:00-19:30).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (hard stop, no exceptions)
- Experience in large hospital settings is highly preferred
- No first-time travelers; prior travel experience is required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate (required)
- AWHONN Advanced (preferred)
Job Requirements
- Must be able to circulate in the Labor and Delivery unit
- Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Travel pairs will not be considered
- Pending licenses are not accepted; active license required

Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in California
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing (annual) required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required (nursing degree)
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam in Relias (required for all L&D RNs)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for L&D
- Regional core and specialty modules as applicable
- Epic training modules completion required prior to moving to Per Diem Work status
Additional Notes
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
- Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet all certification and compliance requirements and are ready to start immediately.
