Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU)

Location: Fishersville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele)
  • Required Years of Experience: 1 year
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday, off every Sunday
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Patient Population: Adult patients with acute medical conditions including cardiac, neurological, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and more
  • Role: Coordination of direct patient care and education

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for ICU, PCU, ED, and Float Pool; must be updated annually

Licensure

  • Valid Virginia or Compact State RN License required

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital with 255 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Meditech
  • Scrub color: Black or Caribbean blue
  • Free parking in unrestricted spaces
  • Local radius rule: Permanent address must be 50+ miles from facility (locals not accepted)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprinting (effective 7/15/2025)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (including marijuana; zero tolerance policy)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Fit mask test (N95 preferred), updated annually
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine within past 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) or approved medical/religious exemption
