Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Johnson City, Tennessee

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 36/36 (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Every Other Week (EOW) schedule
- No call required
- Floating required (may be floated to other units)
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts available as needed
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
Certifications Required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Orientation
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
Location Requirement
- Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed or working in Tennessee
Additional Certifications & Competencies (as applicable)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – check unit description
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for ER, can be pending at start
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – highly preferred for ER
- National Certification/Verification for surgical techs as applicable
- Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License primary source verification
- NURSYS verification required
- NIH Stroke Certification – check if required or preferred
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency Exam required
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (must meet specific standards, completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Staff info form (time sensitive, completed within 24 hours of contract signing)
- Department-specific uniform guidelines and dress code review
- Contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement completion
- Smoking and tobacco use policy review
- Influenza policy review and flu vaccination or exemption documentation required during flu season
- Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms (time sensitive)
- CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use review
Health Documents Required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

This position offers a structured schedule with no call, floating responsibilities, and involvement in clinical education. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience and first-time travel nurses. Compliance with extensive background checks, certifications, and health documentation is mandatory.
