Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off, every other weekend, no call
- Floats: Required to float to Ortho/Spine/Med/Surg units
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required)
- Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
- Living Requirement: Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
Orientation
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional shifts may be available as overtime, subject to census needs
Certifications & Licenses Required
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- Other certifications to verify as applicable: PALS, NRP, TNCC (preferred for ER), NIH Stroke Certification
- State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed or working in Tennessee
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility providers not accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Additional Responsibilities
- Expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Documentation & Facility Policies
- Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., dress code, contaminated sharps exposure, smoking/tobacco use, influenza policy)
- Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- Flu exemption requests require additional documentation and facility approval
