Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off, every other weekend, no call
  • Floats: Required to float to Ortho/Spine/Med/Surg units
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required)
  • Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
  • Living Requirement: Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Orientation

  • General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
  • Additional shifts may be available as overtime, subject to census needs

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications to verify as applicable: PALS, NRP, TNCC (preferred for ER), NIH Stroke Certification
  • State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed or working in Tennessee

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility providers not accepted)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Responsibilities

  • Expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Documentation & Facility Policies

  • Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., dress code, contaminated sharps exposure, smoking/tobacco use, influenza policy)
  • Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Flu exemption requests require additional documentation and facility approval

References & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 references preferred (3 preferred)
  • Skills checklist required
