Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12's), rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Ohio RN license or RN license from a compact state, must be in hand before start
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test during orientation

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results must be on file prior to contract extension
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates starting 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Pass/Fail testing for ECG and medication competency during orientation (retake available if needed)
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
  • Two professional references from within the last year required (from manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at the facility in addition to agency process
  • Candidates must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
