Job Description
- Position: Labor & Delivery RN (Family Birthplace)
- Shift: Rotating Day/Night every three weeks (3x12 hour shifts)
- Day shift: 0700-1930
- Night shift: 1900-0730
- Manager may consider straight night shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: May be required within specialty and sister units
- On-call: Not required
Patient Care Ratios
- Triage: 1:4
- Early labor/induction: 1:2
- Active labor: 1:1
- Cesarean delivery (CD): 1:1
- Post-partum: 1:4
Patient Diagnoses & Unit Details
- Care for Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum patients
- Procedures: Antenatal Testing, Triage, Induction, High-Risk, Post-Partum Pre-eclampsia, C-section
- Unit: LDRP unit with Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU)
- Beds: 14 LDRP beds, 9 overflow beds (PP C/S, Antepartum, NAS, bili baby), 2 triage beds, 2 antenatal testing bays, 2 ORs, 2 PACU bays, 9-bed Special Care Nursery
- Scrub Color: Navy blue
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery nursing
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Maryland RN State License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Preferred (not required): ACLS, STABLE, FHM, AWHONN (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced)
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel) within 30-45 days of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (required for Family Birthplace)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD/TSPOT or 2-step PPD within 1 year
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccine not currently required but documentation collected for tracking
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Two professional references required, including one supervisor/manager or charge RN
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN in Maryland. The position offers rotating day/night shifts with a supportive LDRP unit and Level II NICU. Candidates must have at least 2 years of L&D experience but prior travel experience is not required. Multiple certifications and compliance with health and background requirements are mandatory.
