Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU) - California, Fortuna
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Location: Fortuna, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Facility Type: Acute Care Facility
- Average Daily Census: 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends off out of every 4 (weekend defined as 2 consecutive days Fri-Sun)
- RTO Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience (highest requirement found)
- Prior travel experience: Not required (First Time Traveler: Yes)
Licensure
- California RN license preferred
- Pending California RN license accepted
- Must have active RN license appropriate for California
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (if applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - if applicable
- Other certifications as required by unit or specialty (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM) - verify per clinical track
Required Documents & Compliance
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator Fit Test (Fit Mask) - required for travel, updated annually
- Background Check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification)
- Employment Application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in specialty within last 3 years
- Skills Checklist updated annually (if applicable)
- Competency Exams as required by specialty/unit (e.g., Medication Test, EFM training for L&D RNs)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
Additional Requirements
- Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules (annual regulatory, specialty-specific, and regional modules) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Epic training modules completion may be required depending on region and role
- System TB Questionnaire to be completed prior to start and updated annually
- State-specific background and registry checks as applicable (e.g., Washington state requirements if applicable)
Work Environment
- Scrubs or business casual attire
- Acute care setting with low average census (4 patients)
This position is suitable for ICU RNs with at least 1 year of experience, who hold or are eligible for a California RN license, and are comfortable working in an acute care environment with potential floating responsibilities. Prior travel experience is not required. Compliance with Providence Health and Services documentation, immunization, and training requirements is mandatory.
