Travel ICU Registered Nurse - California (Fountain Valley)
Job Details

Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of staff-level nursing experience
- Floating required to inpatient units including Med-Surg, Telemetry, Oncology, and Emergency Department
Schedule Requirements
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- No on-call required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU and ER)
- Medication Calculation Test (required for all RNs)
- EKG competency (Relias EKG Basic or Advanced Dysrhythmia exam required for ICU and related units)
- Competency exams and color blindness testing as required by profession/specialty
Licensure
- Valid California RN license with primary source verification (NURSYS verification required)
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted
Floating
- Required to float to Med-Surg, Telemetry, Oncology, and ED units
Time Off / Restrictions
- Pre-approved time off allowed at manager’s discretion; must be included at time of submission
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (fit testing may be done onsite or scheduled with Employee Health)
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (declination allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (declinations accepted for some)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state law)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed with masking)
- COVID vaccination record preferred
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Emergency contact form
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Photo for badge
- Completion of EPIC education modules prior to or at start (approx. 8 hours)
- Completion of YouLearn modules assigned by facility
- Completion of HIPAA education module prior to EPIC modules
- Review and sign facility-specific policies and acknowledgements (e.g., Safe Patient Handling, Abuse Reporting, Drug and Alcohol Free Policy)
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
- Two professional references required

Additional Notes
- Candidates within 50 miles may be eligible for local rate
- Orientation packets and performance evaluations are post-start requirements
- Annual internal evaluation required if working with the agency for 1+ year
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable floating to multiple inpatient units and working night shifts in a travel contract role.
