Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with Medical/Surgical specialty to work as a float nurse. This is a travel assignment in a hospital setting.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current RN license in good standing for Kansas (or compact license valid in Kansas).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association) required
  • MOAB Moderate Risk Certification
  • NIH Certification (updated as required)
• Competencies & Testing:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out
• Health & Immunizations:

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test: Required annually (preferred prior to start)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (comprehensive drug testing)
• Background & Verification:

  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment
  • EPLS check within 90 days of start
  • Education Verification within 90 days of start
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years
• Other Requirements:

  • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, matching address requirements)
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension Profile and at least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Various Ascension-specific onboarding and compliance checklists and attestations
