Job Details

• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3/12s)
• Unit Focus: ICU with a high volume of Neuro patients
• Floating: May float to other units within scope of practice, including other campuses; flexibility required with approximately 1.5 hours notice prior to shift start
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend and as needed by unit
• On Call: As needed

Required Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of RN ICU experience
• Must be comfortable and proficient with Neuro ICU patients
• Prior travel experience: Required for candidates traveling more than one year (implied expectation for travel nurses to be flexible)

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Valid California RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Additional Certifications (position-dependent, verify if required)

• CCRN (Critical Care RN)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
• Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Respiratory safety clearance (renewed annually)
• Color blindness exam (in-person, if applicable)

Employment History and References

• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; must include city and state of employment
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
• 2 professional references required for clinical travel positions (within 3 years)
