Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty
• First-time travelers accepted
• Weekend work requirements depend on contract length

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• AWHONN Advanced (specific to Labor and Delivery)
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
• NURSYS verification required

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required

Additional Requirements

• Must be flexible to work weekends and float between units as needed
• Precepting skills preferred
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Locals within a 50-mile radius are accepted

Compliance and Documentation

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start, instant tests not accepted
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Fit mask test required annually (except Sterile Processing Techs)
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years

Training and Competency

• Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules annually, including:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Postpartum
  • Epic training modules (completion required before moving to Paid Day Work status)
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Floating Policy

• Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance

Notes

• Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
