Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 5-8 hour shifts
- Weekend call shifts: 2 per month (part of 4 total call shifts including 2 weeknights)
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates must live more than 75 miles away

Skills & Unit Experience
- Phase I PACU
- Phase II Recovery
- Endoscopy/Laparoscopic
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics (Ortho, Ortho/Spine, Ortho/Total Joints)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required by unit
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs except birthing units and OR
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State
- Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Facility & Work Environment
- Type: Short term acute care hospital
- Total staffed beds: 471
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrubs provided (color: teal)
Health & Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing their contract:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- TB questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Background & Verification
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Education verification from primary source required
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Transcript/diploma if education verification not on file
- Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
- References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and compliance attestations
Additional Notes
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as required
- Color blind testing required once
- Competency exams as required by profession/specialty
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
