Description
Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position: Cardiac Cath Lab RN
- Shift: 07:00 - 17:30, alternating Monday to Friday
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call Requirement: Yes, Monday through Friday 17:30 - 07:00, plus 24-hour coverage on Saturday and Sunday
- Floating: Yes, within scope to medical assignment and ED (for medical holds)
- Cases: 12-18 cases per day across 3 newly renovated labs
- Procedures: Scrub, circulate, and monitor; includes STEMI call, TAVRS, watchman, carotids, impella, CTO, peripherals, TEVARS/EVARS, STEMI
- Documentation Systems: XPER and EPIC
- Scrubs Provided
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Virginia RN license or compact license
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA provider card required)
- BLS (AHA provider card required)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of cardiac or critical care experience required; experience in cardiac cath and/or interventional radiology preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Other: First-time travelers accepted
Work Environment & Additional Details
- High volume, high acuity Cath Lab unit with a team-oriented culture
- Use of advanced equipment including Philips rooms, Medrad and manifold for injections
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
- Local candidates accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions at manager's discretion
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License (VA)
- Background checks including lifetime criminal, federal, state, and education verification
- Drug testing within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask (N95) certification, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers: TB test or chest X-ray, Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination documentation or declination on file
- References: 2 required (one current year, one within last 2 years) from supervisors or equivalent
- Employment application and work history verification (2 years)
- Skills checklist and competency exams required for clinical candidates
- Facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, Epic experience screening, orientation packet, and work modules must be completed prior to start
Certifications & Competencies Notes
- TNCC required if applicable (not for Cath Lab)
- CCRN not required
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blindness testing required for clinical candidates
- Primary source verification required for all licenses and certifications

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiac Cath Lab with a minimum of 1 year cardiac or critical care experience.
