Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist I plays a vital role in supporting cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing the lab and operating essential equipment such as fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition. This position ensures accurate documentation of patient information and hemodynamic measurements while maintaining strict aseptic technique and patient safety standards. The technologist collaborates closely with the medical team to optimize patient care and departmental efficiency and serves as the radiation safety representative during X-ray use.


Work Schedule

  • 4 days per week
  • 10 hours per day

Responsibilities

  • Ensure major equipment is operational and document quality control.
  • Participate in daily room checks and supply stocking.
  • Access daily patient schedules and relevant patient information.
  • Prepare equipment, supplies, and room configuration for procedures.
  • Collaborate with procedure team and Cath Lab Lead/Coordinator for patient care and efficiency.
  • Enter patient information accurately into cath lab computer and imaging systems.
  • Document procedures, hemodynamic measurements, and ECG recognition.
  • Ensure patient positioning and safety during procedures.
  • Train and maintain competencies in cath lab equipment operation (e.g., X-Ray, IVUS, ICE, contrast injector, intra-aortic balloon pump, rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, LV assist device).
  • Support physicians during procedures and ensure patient safety, including aseptic technique adherence.
  • Act as radiation safety representative during X-ray use.
  • Perform fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition as directed.
  • Adhere to patient safety, privacy, infection control, and communication policies.
  • Engage in patient transport as needed.
  • Support departmental productivity and attendance policies.
  • Promote organizational values and participate in process improvement and collaborative care models.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology, or associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only) required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA only) required to work independently at pediatric facilities.
  • Preferred certifications (one or more):
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by CCI
    • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) by CCI
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI
    • Radiography (R) by ARRT
    • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) by ARRT
    • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) by ARRT
    • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) by ARRT
    • Abdomen (AB) RDMS by ARDMS
    • Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) RDMS by ARDMS
    • Adult Echocardiography (AE) RDCS by ARDMS
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS
  • State licensure required based on modality: Texas MRT or LMRT by TMB.

  • Must have electrophysiology (EP) experience.
