Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab Holding
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work location is in Coastal Virginia, near Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
- Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, weekdays only (no weekends or on-call). Shifts vary between 7am-7pm; hours may extend beyond scheduled time to total 40 hours/week.
- Must be EPIC proficient (no exceptions).
- Provide pre- and post-recovery care for patients undergoing minimally invasive cardiac procedures such as coronary angioplasty, stents, IABP, Impella, electrophysiology studies, EP device implants, and related medications/drips.
- Requires critical care exposure with cardiac patients.
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand (no exceptions).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience in Critical Care, Emergency Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, Pre-Post Care Unit, or Cardiac Rehab preferred.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- Must have a clean license and background (facility has zero tolerance for any license or background hits).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in EPIC electronic health record system.
- Experience with cardiac critical care patients and related procedures.
- Ability to manage medications and drips associated with cardiac interventions.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional documentation if history of positive TB.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed).
- Required immunizations and titers within 10 years: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- TDAP vaccine required for some units; preferred for others.
- Flu vaccination required annually (or approved exemption with mask-wearing).
- COVID vaccine preferred but not required.
- Pass/fail EKG/medication competency testing required at orientation (80% minimum score, one attempt only).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Color blindness testing with 100% passing score required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
- Photo for badge (passport style) required before start.
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required (e.g., Pyxis acknowledgment, job description forms).
- Fingerprinting required within first week of contract start (effective 1/1/2026), with specific procedures for scheduling and submission.

- No weekends or on-call shifts.
- Facility is located in an outdoor-friendly area with many recreational opportunities.
- Must submit proof of 2 professional references.
- Complete employment application/resume required.
- Performance evaluation required if previously worked with the facility for 1 year or more.
