Job Opportunity: RN - Operating Room (OR)
Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing
Job Summary
- Provide individualized, safe, and therapeutic nursing care to patients and families in the Operating Room setting.
- Perform comprehensive nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage complex or high-risk clinical situations.
- Serve as a patient and family advocate, ensuring quality outcomes and satisfaction.
- Coordinate and assign care to other healthcare team members within their scope of practice.
- Communicate and document patient care needs according to department guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient and family needs and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and adapt age- and culturally-appropriate nursing interventions.
- Evaluate patient progress and revise care plans as needed.
- Identify and address patient/family educational needs using adult-learning principles.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Manage staffing issues including sick call outs and escalate as necessary.
- Support anesthesia and coordinate surgical case setup and assignments.
Required Qualifications
- License: California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN circulating experience.
- Additional Experience: Must have OR Charge Nurse experience (running the board).
- Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required.
- Certifications:
- CPR
- BLS
- Clinical Experience:
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience preferred (Level II Trauma center staffed 24/7).
- Experience with all types of surgical cases.
- Technical Skills: Experience with EPIC EMR highly beneficial.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel nursing experience who are comfortable managing surgical case coordination and staffing in a fast-paced trauma center environment.
