Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MSDU RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Unit (MSDU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
• Unit Description:

  • Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - critical care step-down unit
  • 26 beds, adult acute care patients requiring specialized care beyond general med-surg
  • Continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
  • Care for patients needing airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, titrated medicated IV infusions
  • Multi-disciplinary team approach with vigilant and compassionate care

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required as per unit description
• Skills:

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to manage cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response/code teams
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including peripheral line care/management
  • Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions

Additional Requirements

• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience NOT required
• Geographic Restriction: Locals must live within a 75-mile radius
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification, eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Summary

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in a specialized Medical-Surgical Intermediate Care Unit in Rochester, NY.
