Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Job Description
- Position: MedSurg Telemetry RN, Days
- Patient Ratios: 1:7
- Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (OT after 48 hours)
- Schedule includes nights, weekdays, every other weekend (EOW), float, and holidays
- Must be EPIC proficient (no exceptions)
- Required skills: IV start, telemetry interpretation, experience with neurology/stroke patients
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
- Licensure: Compact or Virginia RN license in hand (no exceptions)
- Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year and renewed annually)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- No license or background hits allowed (zero tolerance policy)
- Background checks: 7-year criminal check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated with contract renewals
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of positive TB
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year (facility does not allow PAPR)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Immunizations/Titers required within 10 years or documented declination:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- TDAP vaccine required for certain units; preferred for others
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (or approved exemption with mask requirement)
- COVID vaccine preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a medication/pharmacology competency exam and cardiac monitor (EKG) pass/fail test at orientation
- Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, plain background) required before start
- Fingerprinting required within the first week of contract start (effective 1/1/2026)
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
- Proof of 2 professional references
- Complete employment application/resume
- Job-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgments

- Located in Coastal Virginia, near Virginia Beach and Norfolk

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who meet strict licensure and compliance standards and are comfortable with a fast-paced, high-acuity patient ratio.
